God, Are You There? Keeping the Faith When You Feel Abandoned

July 24, 20252 min read

When Heaven Feels Quiet

I remember sitting on the edge of my bed, staring at the wall like it had answers.
Tears wouldn’t come anymore, and the silence from heaven felt louder than anything I’d ever heard.
I wanted to believe God was with me... but if I’m honest? I felt
completely alone.

You ever been there?

When prayer feels pointless.
When worship songs don’t land.
When you’re in church, raising your hands, but inside your soul’s whispering,
“God… how am I going to get through this?”

Let’s Talk About That Silence

One of the hardest things about heartbreak—especially for women of faith—is the spiritual confusion that comes with it.

You think:
“But I prayed for this relationship.”
“I waited. I trusted. I submitted. And it still ended.”

And suddenly, what you believed about God feels shaky.
The God you once praised now feels distant. Maybe even disappointing.

But here’s the thing no one says enough:

God can handle your disappointment.
God can handle your questions.
God can even handle your
anger.

Raw Faith Is Still Faith

You don’t need perfect words to pray.

Some of my most honest prayers during that season sounded like:

  • “I’m mad at You.”

  • “I don’t understand what You’re doing.”

  • “I know that you CAN do this, so why wont you?.”

And yet—God met me in every one of those moments.

He never rolled His eyes.
He didn’t unfriend me from heaven.
He didn’t cancel my blessings because I was struggling.

Instead, He held me.
Not with thunder and lightning. But in the small things:

  • A random scripture that popped up at the right time

  • A phone call from a friend I hadn’t heard from in while

  • A quiet moment where I felt peace for the first time in weeks

God was still there. I just had to let Him into my real, raw mess.

✝️ Scripture to Hold Close

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
Even when it
feels like God’s far, His Word says He’s not.
Feelings are valid, but
truth is stronger.

💛 A Simple Practice: Honest Prayer

Tonight, whisper this before bed:

“God, I don’t feel You right now. But I’m still here. Meet me here.”

Then breathe. And trust He will.

Because you are never too far gone.
And God? He’s never left the room.
